Bangladesh’s reputation for hospitality has once again been recognized, this time by Chittagong Kings’ host, Yesha Sagar. Visiting Bangladesh for the first time, Sagar has lauded the country’s warm reception and its cricket passion, further enhancing the excitement surrounding the return of the Chittagong Kings to the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

After a hiatus, Chittagong Kings have made a grand comeback to BPL. The franchise has made headlines with key additions, including former Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi as their brand ambassador and Yesha Sagar as their official host. Sagar shared his thoughts about his Bangladesh experience and plans for the BPL in an exclusive interview with BDCricTime.

Speaking to BDCricTime, Sagar expressed his delight: "It's my first time here in Bangladesh, and the experience has been very incredible so far. The hospitality from people in Bangladesh, fans, and especially Samir, and the whole team has been supporting me really well. Also, I got a chance to visit BPL Music Fest. I saw the crowd, the energy of the crowd. It was truly amazing. It's just amazing to see the passionate fans, how passionate they are for cricket in Bangladesh."

When asked about his favorite cricketers, Sagar named India’s Rohit Sharma as his top choice. Among Bangladeshi players, he didn’t hesitate to highlight Shakib Al Hasan, saying: " Overall, I would go with Rohit Sharma. Among Bangladeshi players, there are a lot of talented players in Bangladesh, but if I have to pick one, it would be Shakib Al Hasan."

Sagar elaborated on his admiration for Shakib: " Because I feel like his consistency has been incredible and his ability to perform under pressure. I'm pretty sure he's very inspiring for many inspiring cricketers as well."

Sagar revealed his journey into cricket hosting began just last year: " I got the first opportunity in cricket last year in GT20 in Canada. I just got into it through my friend. When I was in it, I just fell in love with cricket, honestly. Especially, I feel like it's the energy from cricketers, the players, and the sport itself attracted me. I would love to meet Shahid Afridi and talk to him, Shaun Tait, the head coach, Shakib Al Hasan, of course, if he gets a chance to come, and Moeen Ali."

Sharing his enthusiasm about the upcoming season, Sagar said: " I'm very excited for the league to start, and of course, because it's my first time here and I want to experience the cricket in Bangladesh. I'm feeling really incredible, and I feel honored that Samir gave me a chance to come here in Bangladesh and represent his team and be part of BPL. Thank you."

Chittagong Kings have assembled a formidable squad featuring stars like Shakib Al Hasan, Shoriful Islam, Angelo Mathews, and Moeen Ali. However, Shakib’s availability for the tournament remains uncertain, but the team appears strong even in his absence. Chittagong will kick off their BPL campaign on December 31 against the Khulna Tigers.
