Dowrich ended day one with a steady 46*. Devendra Bishoo was alongside him without getting off the mark in 32 balls. The first session of the second day was interrupted by rain as only 9.1 overs were bowled in the session.
Dowrich and Bishoo put on 102 runs for the seventh wicket to put the pressure back on Sri Lanka. Bishoo played 165 balls for his 40 runs. Dowrich went on to score his second Test hundred in 282 balls. He spent 399 minutes to get his hundred, which is the fourth-slowest hundred in terms of minutes by a West Indian.
The wicket-keeper batsman got another tail-ender to support him in the innings. In the 75-run eighth-wicket stand, Kemar Roach made 39 off 95 hitting 6 fours and a six.
Windies declared the innings five balls after Roach's dismissal. Miguel Cummins faced those five deliveries. The hosts put on 414/8 in 154 overs. Dowrich stayed unbeaten for his career-best 325-ball 125 runs including 12 boundaries.
