In the 2023 ODI World Cup, Bangladesh played the worst World Cup ever. The Tigers' performance was so disappointing when expectations were highest. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has entered the field to investigate the reasons behind such a bad World Cup.

In a press release on Wednesday (November 29), the BCB announced the formation of a three-member inquiry committee to probe the cause of the World Cup failure. This committee has 3 influential board directors: Enayet Hossain Siraj, Mahbubul Anam, and Akram Khan. Among them, Enayet Hossain Siraj is the convenor and Mahbubul Anam and Akram Khan are members of the investigation committee.

Akram Khan faced the media today. He announced to implementation of the decision strictly whatever the result of the investigation. He told the media, “We have to think that we don’t play for ourselves but for Bangladesh. Bangladesh belongs to everyone. It should not be taken lightly and we will not take it lightly if someone harms the country for personal gain, jealousy, or satanism. Whatever truth comes out we will give it to the board and hopefully, the board will decide that.”

Akram added, “The World Cup is actually a place where you win or lose 7-8 series and it doesn't matter. But there is so much attraction in the World Cup, in fact, how the country plays, everything emerges. We should have done better in that area. We were preparing well for 4 years before this World Cup. We have not done well and we have done badly. That was not what we expected. We have to find out why it has gone bad. Since I remember in 2003 I went to South Africa during the World Cup. Even then Bangladesh team did not do so well. In the beginning, they lost to Canada. Then the investigation was done properly but no decision was reached. Now that I am our board president has said he will make some tough decisions. I think this is the right time.”

Akram urged everyone to cooperate for the sake of the country, “We will try as soon as possible (to start work). I think everyone who needs it should come for the sake of the country and should come no matter how busy they are. We are also very busy. It is difficult to report if it does not come. If we work for the country, everyone should cooperate for the country.”
