Ireland beat Zimbabwe by 4 wickets to register their maiden Test victory on home soil on Sunday (28th July) at Belfest. Wicket-keeper batter Lorcan Tucker and Andy McBrine didn’t put a foot wrong as they survived from stumbling at 21-5 to chase down 158.

Zimbabwe managed to get 197 on the board as they were trailing 40 runs after the both team's first innings, the target then was reduced to 158 for Ireland.

Chasing the total, Ireland were rocked back. Courtesy Richard Ngarava who ran riot through the Irish top order to stumble them up for a platry 21-5. Wicket-keeper batter Lorcan Tucker and Andy McBrine were the ones who stood tall amidst the chaos.

The duo put on a show and didn’t put wrong foot to stitch an enormous 96 run stand between them to knock down Zimbabwe despite a thrashing start.

Tucker was blew away by Muzarabani in the morning after a sensational 56 off only 64 deliveries, but McBrine found partner in Mark Adair. Both of them crawled through the way to the victory with their vital 41* run stand.

Zimbabwe will be rue themselves for their 52 extras that they conceded in the first innings, which helped Ireland to get the pivotal 40 runs lead to become decisive after the Test match. This is Ireland's maiden Test victory at home.

Andy McBrine was adjusted as the player of the match award for his heroics throughout the match as he claimed 7 wickets in the match and scored a tremendous 55* off 82 deliveries to help his side chase down the total.
