Trent Boult was the star with the ball delivering a sensational spell of 4/26 which ripped through SRH’s top order.
“It was a good wicket, a wicket that Sunrisers Hyderabad know very well. It’s a heaven for big scores and I think it played a little bit differently than expected. It’s nice to see any team go four or five down in the powerplay,” Boult said after the match.
He added that the dry pitch offered some early assistance:
“We expected it to be a high-scoring match. There wasn't much grass and it was quite a dry wicket. The new ball stood up a little bit for both teams in the powerplay. I just managed to put some pressure on, but to get four [wickets] was great stuff,”
MI chased down the target with ease, thanks to a sublime 71 off 44 balls from Rohit Sharma who registered his second consecutive fifty in the tournament.
Boult had high praise for the former MI skipper:
“I think that the whole Mumbai Indians squad possesses some world-class players and obviously Rohit needs no introduction in that regard. Everyone wants to be contributing at some point. Rohit's doing a fantastic job of late and playing nicely just at the right time. So he's gonna play a huge role for us in the remaining part of the season,” Boulty said.
After a shaky start to the season Mumbai Indians now look like serious contenders winning four in a row and climbing closer to the top half of the points table.
