South Africa piled up runs in the second Test against Bangladesh on Tuesday (October 29) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Cricket Stadium, Chattogram. Hundreds from Tony de Zorzi and Tristan Stubbs helped the visitors dominate the entire day.

The 201-run stand helped South Africa dominate the entire first day of Chattogram Test.

After winning the toss, South Africa's openers laid the foundation for them as the openers saw off the new ball and stitched a 69 runs. Although skipper Aiden Markram failed to convert his 33 to a fifty.

And then rest of the day was for only Tony de Zorzi and Tristan Stubbs. The duo batted superbly as they played the spinners very well. Lofted hits, reverse-sweeps were the common shots of these two and they brought up their respective hundreds in quick time, with Stubbs making his maiden international hundred.

It was a record-breaking 201-run stand between them before Taijul Islam knocked over Tristan Stubbs after his classy 106 off 198 balls. However, Tony de Zorzi went unbeaten till the stumps and is on 141* off 211 balls as the South Africa are bossing the Test with a stack of 307-2 runs.

It was a hard-toil day for Bangladesh as the pitch didn’t offer anything for the spinners. But it is expected to be deteriorated as the time progresses.

South Africa meanwhile, will be chuffed after piling up a massive total with 8 more wickets on the hand. The visitors will be eyeing to bat Bangladesh out of the match.
