The record of Bashar as most successful ODI captain stayed very long, but finally Mashrafe has overtaken it and the former captain has no regrets, rather he is happy that he lost to Mashrafe.
Bashar told reporters: "To be honest, records are made to be broken. I am very happy that I lost to Mashrafe. First of all, I never wanted to stay in the top of this record. I always wanted a captain who can win more matches for the country."
Bashar added: "The personal records can't be bigger than country's pride. I am happy that Mashrafe broke the record. He really deserved it. After becoming the captain, he worked hard, he sacrificed many things, he changed himself. I watched all these with my own eyes. This record fits better with his name."
Mashrafe has led the side in 53 ODIs. He has won 30 matches, lost 20 and two matches were abandoned. On the other hand, Bashar has led the side in 69 matches and he has 29 wins under his belt while he lost 40 matches.
