Bangladesh 'A' team and High-Performance team batting consultant Jamie Siddons talks about his children’s Bangladesh citizenship as the coach is in Bangladesh for many years and his children also love the country much.
Siddons was appointed as Bangladesh’s head coach back in 2007 first. He served the team till the 2011 ODI World Cup. However, he returned to Bangladesh again in 2021 and served the team as a batting coach. But his contract wasn’t for a long time and recently he was selected as the batting consultant of Bangladesh 'A' team and High-Performance team.
So, Siddons’ affection for Bangladesh continues, and he also loves the country. He visits in his free time here and there and explores different things in the country. Siddons has three children-Two sons and a girl. Both his sons are interested in cricket and want to be a cricketer in the future. So, whenever Siddons goes to Australia for a vacation, he gives enough time to them and teaches cricket.
As Siddons’ relationship with Bangladesh cricket is for a long time, so Siddons jokingly demands citizenship of Bangladesh for his children and if they get it, they can play for Bangladesh national team too in the future, Siddons said.
“It was a little bit tongue-in-cheek, having a bit of fun. Last time I was here, 13 years ago, they were born and came straight here. They were probably eight weeks old. They were here for two years, so maybe honorary citizenship would be good. Then they can play for Bangladesh,” he said.
Siddons is currently busy with Bangladesh ‘A’ team’s series against West Indies ‘A’. The first four-day unofficial Test ended in a draw.
