Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has cited a weakness in Team India's squad in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 tournament. The commentator was quick to point out that the lack of all-rounders is a bit of weakness for Team India.

Sanjay brought Australia as a reference where players like Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, and Cameron Green can also be effectively used as a bowlers who have the potential to complete their full quota of 4 overs. 

On the other side of the coin, that isn't the same with Team India according to Sanjay. "Lack of all-rounders is a bit of a weakness for Team India. If you look at Australia, their batters like Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, and Cameron Green can bowl four overs in a match," Manjrekar told Star Sports.

The former Indian batter also comprehends why the selectors brought Shivam Dube in the mix, who can also be used as a bowling option. The commentator reckons that the Indian team is relying only on the specialist bowlers especially in the big tournaments like the World Cup.

The 58-year-old wants the team to make adjustments wherever necessary such that someone should be able to bowl a few overs in a match, which might come in handy.

"I think that's why the Indian team has brought Shivam Dube into the side to mitigate the limitations that come with a lack of all-rounders. Yes, it's a small weakness, and now with the impact substitute rule in the IPL, this problem might increase. We currently rely on specialist bowlers and batters, but in this World Cup, the team will need to make some adjustments, and someone will have to bowl at least two to three overs in a match," Manjrekar stated.

Meanwhile, Team India kick-started their T20 World Cup opener with a 8-wicket win over Ireland in New York. They will take on Pakistan at the same venue on June 9, Sunday.
