For the next season, England opener Zak Crawley, and Netherlands all-rounder Roelof van der Merwe have been signed by Sunrisers Eastern Cape, the reigning SA20 winners.

They have also signed another English cricketer Craig Overton and South Africa batter David Bedingham.

Crawley has already participated in T20 competitions, having been a member of the Australian Big Bash League (BBL) teams Hobart Hurricanes and Perth Scorchers. Additionally, he scored a century for Kent in the T20 Blast of England. With players like Jordan Hermann, Tom Abell, Aiden Markram, and Tristan Stubbs in the top order, Crawley should fit in well in the Sunrisers team.

Van der Merwe, who was a member of the Sunrisers during the inaugural SA20 season in 2022–2023—has also returned. With 20 wickets that year, the left-arm spinning all-rounder shared first place in the wicket-taking charts despite having a 5.62 economy rate.

Having made his debut in December 2023, Bedingham is among the more recent additions to the South African squad. In 63 T20 matches, he has amassed 1375 runs at a strike rate of 135.06 and an average of 22.17.

And this will be Overton's first venture into an international T20 league with the SA20. The 30-year-old fast bowler has played in 102 matches, all of which have taken place in England.
