Sri Lanka crashed Australia by 174 runs to cleansween the Aussies on Friday (February 14) in Colombo. A sublime hundred from wicketkeeper batter Kusal Mendis and fifties from Nishan Madushka and skipper Charith Asalanka helped the Lankans get to an above per total of 281 runs. In reply, Dunith Wellalage, Wanindu Hasaranga and Asitha Fernando ran riot to fold Australia for a paltry 107 runs.

Australia seemed to be looked clueless against the Lankan spin attack.Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka lost Pathum Nissanka earlier on to Aaron Hardie as the new ball nipped around a bit. However, Nishan Madushka and wicketkeeper batter Kusal Mendis then stitched up for an excellent 98-run stand together before the departure of Madhushka after his gutsy 51-run knock. Kamindu Mendis too feel cheaply as the Aussies were back into the game after a tough start.

But Kusal Mendis and skipper Charith Asalanka came again adding 94 runs, helping the hosts get a solid foundation for the floaters to come and smack around.

Kusal Mendis brought up a fantastic ton, while Asalanka scored a brisk 78* off just 66 balls. At the backend of the day, it was Janith Liyanage, who made a quick-fire cameo of 32* off just 21 balls to help his side get to 281 on the board.

In reply, Matthew Short was plumb infront, same like the previous match. Jake Fraser-McGurk was out on mid-on and then it was Travis Head who got out against run of play.

Dunith Wellalage knocked over Josh Inglis and the Aussies were at the deep hole. Steve Smith was there and scored some runs but wickets kept tumbling at the other ends as the Aussies stumble from 79-4 to 94-9, and ultimately being all-out on 107 runs, losing the game by 174 runs.
