Following their historic 2-0 Test series win in Pakistan, the Bangladesh cricket team was awarded a well-deserved bonus. In a celebratory event held at the luxurious Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka on Saturday, the team presented a special gift to Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan – a cricket bat signed by the players.
The event, held just before the team’s departure for the India tour, honored the players for their impressive series win on foreign soil. The bat, signed by the entire squad, was handed to advisor Asif Mahmud as a token of gratitude for his unwavering support of the team.
In response, Asif Mahmud took to his official Facebook profile to express his gratitude, writing, “Thank you to the Bangladesh National Cricket Team for this special gift.” The advisor’s acknowledgment reflected the strong bond between the team and their supporters in the interim government.
Before receiving the commemorative bat, advisor Asif Mahmud also distributed a total of BDT 32 million (3.2 crore) as bonuses to the players for their stellar performance in Pakistan. BCB president Faruque Ahmed was also present during the event.
Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto revealed that the team has collectively decided to donate a portion of their bonus to aid those affected by the recent floods in the country. “We want to do our part to support the flood victims, and we hope others with the capacity will do the same,” Shanto stated.
The Bangladesh team is now gearing up for their upcoming tour of India, where they will play two Tests and three T20Is.
