The cricket fraternity has witnessed many batters get dismissed in the "nervous 90s". Batters tend to get nervous especially when they are just a few runs away from scoring a century.

Rishabh Pant has been dismissed in his 90s on seven occasions. Even the best players feel the pressure at this stage, as reaching the triple-digit mark is a big deal in cricket. When a batsman is in the nervous 90s, his heart races and every ball seems more important than the last.

Meanwhile, some of India's cricket legends have had this happen to them many times, where they came so close to a hundred but fell just short. Let’s take a look at the top six Indian players who faced the nervous 90s often.

Sachin Tendulkar, who has the most runs in Test cricket history with 15,921 runs, scored 51 centuries so far. However, even he got stuck in the 90s ten times, the most by an Indian. Imagine being just a few runs away from another big hundred, with the whole country watching and expecting. When Sachin got out in the 90s, it wasn't just disappointing for him; it felt like a heartbreak for all his fans.

2. Rahul Dravid - 9 times

Rahul Dravid who was best known for his solid defense, was one of India's most reliable players during the playing days of his career. He scored 36 centuries in his career, but nine times, he was dismissed in the nervous 90s. Although he was known for being patient and steady at the crease, but sometimes that caution worked against him when he tried to reach the triple-digit score.

3. Rishabh Pant - 7 times

Rishabh Pant is one of the most exciting young players in the modern era. He is famous for his bold and fearless style. His approach reaped the team rewards, more often than not but at the same time, it cost him his wicket when he was in the 90s on seven occasions. Pant loves to hit big shots and doesn't hold back, even when he’s close to a century. Sometimes, that aggression cost him a well-deserved hundred. Recently, he was dismissed on 99 against New Zealand

4. MS Dhoni - 5 times

Former Indian captain MS Dhoni was dismissed in the nervous 90s five times. The cricketing brain was always about putting the team's needs first, so he would often go for big shots or try to push the scoring rate, even when he was close to a century. Getting out in the 90s never seemed to bother him much, as long as he did what was needed for Team India.

5. Sunil Gavaskar - 5 times

Sunil Gavaskar, who was one of India’s greatest opening batsmen during the playing days of his career, also fell in the 90s five times. Known for his excellent technique and reliability, Gavaskar usually played cautiously. But in those five instances, a slight lapse in focus or a well-bowled delivery denied him a hundred.

Virender Sehwag was the kind of player who didn't believe in being nervous at all. He played with the same attacking style whether he was on zero or in the 90s. But this approach meant that five times he got out in the 90s, usually while going for a maximum. Sehwag is the only Indian who scored two triple centuries in Test cricket.
