Nitish Kumar Reddy's wait to make his debut in international cricket is getting a little longer. Although he was called up to the squad for the Zimbabwe series, he will not play due to injury. Shivam Dube will join the 15-member squad as his replacement.

Pace all-rounder Reddy shined for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the latest edition of IPL. Reddy scored 303 runs for Hyderabad with a strike rate of 142.92. He claimed three wickets with the ball. Due to his outstanding season, he was called up to the national squad for the series against Zimbabwe.

Reddy is among the young players the BCCI has targeted and who have spent the last year being monitored by the NCA.

Dube is a member of India's 2024 T20 World Cup squad. While his performances in the competition so far have been average: 106 runs in six matches, a strike rate of 107.07, and no wickets, he had an outstanding IPL 2024. Coming in to bat mostly in the middle overs, he was the Chennai Super Kings' spinner, scoring 396 runs in 14 games and hitting at 162.29. He was CSK's second-highest run scorer, trailing Ruturaj Gaikwad.

India's five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe will begin on July 6. Resting most of the first-team players, India have announced their squad for the series with a bunch of new faces. The team will be led by Shubman Gill.
