Following their disappointing exit from the T20 World Cup, where a poor batting approach saw Bangladesh lose their crucial Super Eight match against Afghanistan, the team is now ready to return to the field. Despite having a chance to reach the semifinals, the batters failed to put up a fight in a match that frustrated fans across the country. Now, Bangladesh looks to move forward with a new mindset under the leadership of Najmul Hossain Shanto.

As Bangladesh’s T20 squad takes the field for the first time since the World Cup, Shanto has promised a fresh approach from the batters. He emphasized that the preparation for the 2026 T20 World Cup will begin with this India series.

“In this series, you’ll see a different approach from everyone. Every player will play to win. We’re starting to prepare for the 2026 World Cup from now. This squad may have a few additions, but the core will be built from here. We’re keeping the 2026 World Cup in mind as we begin this series,” Shanto explained.

One of the major issues Bangladesh has faced is the lack of big scores, mainly due to inconsistent top-order performances. Shanto highlighted the importance of a solid start from the top order, urging his batters to adapt their game according to the match scenario.

“A strong start from the top order is essential. It’s important to assess what’s needed on the day—whether it’s a 140-run target or 180. We aim to bat with that approach moving forward,” Shanto added.

Shanto also reflected on his personal performance and his hopes for the upcoming series. “I’m not too worried about my performance. I believe I’ll make a quick comeback. I had a couple of good innings towards the end of the World Cup, and I’m looking forward to contributing in this series.”
