India’s one of the best pacer in recent time Mohammed Shami showed his swinging worth in the fourth innings again against South Africa in the first test at Visakhapatnam as he took his fourth 5-wicket haul in the fourth innings of a test match. In the last two years, Shami’s average in the fourth innings is 19.32 and noticeably his average in first innings is 34.55 which clearly proved his dominance in the fourth innings. Even his fourth innings average is better than his overall average 28.45.

“I think he (Shami) is presently the number one reverse swing bowler in the world. He has an excellent thought regarding utilizing the old ball," Chetan Sharma said.

"Just those quick bowlers who have great command over reverse swing can bowl well in the fourth innings. The ball will in general lose its sparkle quicker in the fourth innings and there are a lot of wear and tear on a fifth-day pitch." India defeated South Africa by a huge margin of 203 runs in the first test match at Visakhapatnam on Sunday, October 6 where Mohammed Shami unleashed devastation with his deadly bowling in the fourth innings to leave South Africa destroyed. The 53-year old Chetan Sharma also pointed about the perfect good and length of Mohammed Shami which Shami had been producing continuously in recent times. Among his five wickets, four wickets were taken by clean bowled in the first test against South Africa which showed Shami’s great accuracy. “He is very accurate. Reverse swing is a matter of accuracy. If you get reverse swing, but if you don't get the line right, you won't get a wicket. So your accuracy must be top class. This is the place Shami is consistently on target,” said Chetan Sharma, who played 23 Tests and 65 ODIs for India.
