Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan played a match-winning innings in the second ODI against Zimbabwe yesterday. He completed 12,000 runs in international cricket for Bangladesh with that innings. At the same time, he surpassed South Africa legend Jacques Kallis’ record.

Shakib entered the club of 12 thousand runs in international cricket in three editions. At the end of the second match of the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe, Shakib's total runs are now 12,070. Shakib set the record in the 385th innings of 348 matches. His batting average is 35.60 with 83 half centuries and 14 centuries. His runs in Test, ODI and T20 are 3933, 6570 and 1567 runs respectively.

Although Shakib is new to the 12k runs club, he has already touched the record of 500 wickets in all editions. This time he completed 12,000 runs and entered another record book, where only Jacques Kallis was before. So far, Kallis was the only cricketer in international cricket to have scored 12,000 runs and taken 500 wickets. Shakib has entered that elite club as the fastest cricketer.

Shakib has played 348 matches to set a record of 12,000 runs and 500 wickets. Kallis, on the other hand, played 420 matches to set that record. In other words, Shakib entered this club as the second cricketer after playing 72 matches less than Kallis.
