A statement signed by the Chief Whip of the Bangladesh Parliament on February 4 shows that 9 members of the Bangladesh Parliament Standing Committee on Youth and Sports Ministry have been appointed. As its president is the newly former Minister of State for Sports and Member of Parliament of Gazipur-2 Constituency Md. Zahid Ahsan Russell. Current Youth and Sports Minister and BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon are members of the committee.
The formation of this standing committee was finalized in the session of the National Parliament on Monday. Mashrafe was also a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the last Parliament. Also, there was another former captain Naimur Rahman Durjoy. However, the country's first Test captain did not make the selection this time.
Both Mashrafe and Shakib won the 12th parliamentary elections with huge margins. Although Mashrafe is sitting in Parliament for the second time, Shakib is experiencing this for the first time. Like them, Nazmul Hassan Papon won by a huge margin, who along with BCB got the responsibility of the entire country's sports arena.
