Earlier in the year 2018, Shakib completed ten thousand runs mark in a tri-series match against Sri Lanka in January. He was the second Bangladeshi to 10000 runs in international cricket. Shakib is the fastest to achieve the double of 10000 runs and 500 wickets in international cricket. He took 302 matches to achieve the feat while South African legend Jacques Kallis took 420 matches and Pakistani star played 477 matches to join the elite club. The ace all-rounder now has 10102 runs and exactly 500 wickets for Bangladesh across all formats. Shakib is the sixth left-arm bowler and third left-arm spin bowler to take 500 wickets. Wasim Akram, Chaminda Vaas and Mitchell Johnson are the fast bowlers. New Zealand's Daniel Vettori and Sri Lankan veteran Rangana Herath are the other left-arm spinners.
