His sparkling performance while bowling (4/13 ) won the match for his KFC T20 franchise Melbourne Renegades over Brisbane heat in a low scoring match . The ball was bouncing and turning and Shakib looked lethal with his line and length and reaped rich reward. He was however very casual while batting and actually threw away his wicket trying unnecessarily to upper cut only the third ball scoring only two. Over the last two matches he could bat only 8 balls scoring only three. Not fitting to an all-rounder of his standing. He caused the second win over the three matches he appeared in this year for his KFC Big Bash T 20 franchise Melbourne Renegades. For a Bangladeshi Cricket admirer it was a matter of pride watching with own eyes such a performance and hearing fans shouting Shakib –Shakib to acknowledge his performance. He however, hurried while batting and got out on the third ball trying to unnecessarily upper cut after scoring two runs in the first two balls playing on drives. Better could be he left alone that delivery and adjust to pace and bounce of the wicket. His team was chasing a very modest target of 81 and he went to bat only on the 9 Th over. Shakib himself acknowledged while talking to this writer immediately after he received the man of the match trophy. His team Renegades plays the last match of the preliminary league against Sydney Sixers at their home of Etihad Stadium on 19 January with an outside chance of advancing to next round if they can win big.   Yesterday was working day and had very busy time in Monash University new work place. My son Shahriar and his Cricket enthusiast wife Rizwana were keen to watch Shakib’s match. Not that I was less interested. I had no experience of Etihad Stadium before. Being covered stadium there were no possibilities of match getting washed out from heavy rain since morning. We were a bit late in arriving at the stadium and being there first time had some problem in finding parking and working out the right place to seat .However we were lucky to get seats just beside dressing room of Shakib’s team. Later a four-wicket haul from ICC top ranked all-rounder in all three formats Tests, ODI and T20 Shakib Al Hasan sent the Melbourne Renegades on their way to a five-wicket victory. Shakib’s magical performance of 4 for 13 with his left-arm spin wrecked the Heat's middle order, as the visitors were bundled out for 80 inside 18 overs. James Pattinson struck two early blows removing Jimmy Peirson and Joe Burns with his first two deliveries. Shakib coming on the attack on the fifth over. He accounted for Christian and Floros with his very second and third ball creating an opportunity for a hat trick. He removed Lynn inducing him giving return catch in his second over. Shakib also cut short the recovery mission of top scorer Ben Cutting fooling him with his customary armer delivery. Apart from this he was instrumental in running out Flintoff and taking the catch of AC McDermott.Ben Cutting was the team's top scorer with 30, and Peter Forrest chipped in with 22, but the team's next highest source of runs were the nine extras conceded by the Renegades' bowlers. In all, the Heat could manage only five fours and a six throughout their innings, as Peter Siddle, Shakib, Fawad Ahmed and Nathan Rimmington all went at under six an over. Renegades however, almost made mess of batting responding to the modest target of 81. Within 9 overs top four were back in the pavilion with only 31 runs on board. Shakib by his standing is also one of the top batsmen. But for reasons best known to team think tank he again was sent at number six. He also failed to do justice to his reputation. First two deliveries he played with straight bat getting two singles through on drives .On his third he unnecessarily tried to upper cut getting out on the third man fence .It was only 10th over .There was no hurry. That delivery could easily be left alone .Shakib must bat with a bit more patience and get more used to pace and bounce of Australian Wickets. Renegades could have fallen further back had Stephen Parry not spilled an easy catch from Ben Rohrer when the batsman was still on 0. However, Rohrer and TM Beaton batted sensibly there after stitching together an undefeated 42 runs 6 th wicket partnership bringing the third win for Red Renegades. Our Shakib made Bangladesh proud with yet another Super Shakib performance which earned him man of the match. This season Renegades did not win many. But of the three Shakib played they won two and lost the third only just. Has not he brought good omen for them?
