Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag is confident that Virat Kohli will be celebrated just like Sachin Tendulkar after the conclusion of the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 tournament. The Nawab of Najafgarh is of the notion that Virat Kohli will finish the marquee tournament as the leading run-scorer.

Kohli failed to bring the best out of himself in the 2019 edition of the World Cup as he didn't score a century. A lot was expected of him to deliver in that edition but he struggled to dictate the terms. However, Sehwag is hopeful that Kohli will dominate the proceedings in the upcoming edition of the World Cup.
While speaking to Cricbuzz, Sehwag said he hopes Kohli scores many centuries and ends up being the leading run-scorer of the tournament. After India won the ICC ODI World Cup 2011, Virat Kohli was one of the youngsters who lifted legendary Sachin Tendulkar on their shoulders.
“Cheeku (Kohli) didn’t score a single century in the 2019 World Cup, this year I hope he scores many hundreds and ends up as the leading run-scorer in the tournament. Then, I want him to be carried on the shoulders and get a round of the ground," Virender Sehwag added.
Virat Kohli played 26 games in ODI World Cup history where he aggregated 1030 runs at an average of 46.81 including two centuries and six fifties. He will be looking forward to expressing himself in the upcoming marquee event.
“These two (Rohit & Kohli) senior players deserve to win the World Cup. Rohit Sharma was so close to getting picked for the 2011 World Cup but missed out. Later he became the Badshah of ODIs, he deserves to win a World Cup trophy because he is a fantastic player," Sehwag added.
India will kick-start their World Cup 2023 journey on October 8 as they will lock horns with Australia at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
