Scotland Women have qualified for the Women's T20 World Cup for the first time in their history. Scotland beat Ireland women's team by 8 wickets at the Sheikh Abu Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi to book their ticket to the T20 World Cup.
On Sunday, Ireland Women and Scotland Women competed in the qualifier's first semi-final. The Irish struggled from the start as they batted first. Opening batter Amy Hunter departed in the first over of the innings before opening the run book. Another opener Gaby Lewis also returned to the dressing room with 0 runs.
Except for Leah Paul, no one in the middle order could get comfortable at the crease. She scored the team's maximum of 45 runs in the innings. In the end, the Ireland women's team scored 110 runs owing to Arlene Kelly's 27-ball 35-run performance. Kathryn Bryce claimed four wickets for Scotland.
Chasing an easy target of 111 runs, two openers Saskia Horley and Megan McColl started off really well with a 49-run partnership. Horley was bowled by Kelly after scoring 10 runs off 18 balls. Megan took the team close to victory, picking up a fifty. She became Kelly's second victim after scoring 50 runs off 47 balls.
Then Kathryn Bryce and Sarah Bryce led the team to victory. After taking 4 wickets, Kathryn played an unbeaten innings of 35 runs off 29 balls.
