Former Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal is set to join the new Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise, Dhaka Capitals, as their mentor for the upcoming season.

Dhaka Capitals confirmed Ajmal’s appointment through an official post on their Facebook page. Known for his unique ‘doosra’ delivery, Ajmal’s spin prowess brought him 447 wickets in international cricket. Although he faced a temporary suspension due to an illegal bowling action, Ajmal made a comeback with a modified action. Post-retirement, he has also served as a spin-bowling coach for Pakistan.

The Dhaka Capitals, a team backed by popular Bangladeshi actor Shakib Khan, has built a strong squad of both local and international stars for the season. Key players like Litton Das, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, and Mustafizur Rahman will represent Dhaka, along with overseas stars Thisara Perera and Johnson Charles. Renowned domestic coach Khaled Mahmud Sujon will serve as the head coach.

The upcoming BPL season is scheduled to run from January to mid-February 2025, barring any schedule changes.
