Sabbir Rahman is set to participate in the inaugural Lanka T10 League, joining the Hambantota-based Bangla Tigers. He becomes the fourth Bangladeshi cricketer to secure a spot in this league, alongside compatriots Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan, and Rony Talukdar. Sabbir confirmed his participation in the league during an interview at the airport, as he prepared to leave for Sri Lanka.

The Bangla Tigers acquired Sabbir via a direct signing, while Soumya Sarkar was picked during the draft. The team boasts other notable players such as Dasun Shanaka, Iftikhar Ahmed, Dushmantha Chameera, and Kusal Perera.

Although Sabbir was included in the squad for the NCL T20, his participation has been halted due to his Lanka T10 commitment. His absence will be a significant miss for Rajshahi, the team he was set to represent in the domestic tournament. Previously, Sabbir had publicly expressed disappointment over missing out on a spot in the first-class version of the NCL, despite his team’s poor performance.

The tournament begins on December 11, and Sabbir is excited to showcase his skills on this new platform.
