Rohit Sharma has long been admired for the way he connects with young players, whether in the Indian team or the IPL. He often steps naturally into a mentor’s role, offering advice and encouragement, especially when it comes to batting. Recently, in a video shared by Lucknow Super Giants on social media, Rohit was seen chatting with 23-year-old Abdul Samad.
In their conversation, Rohit emphasized that no matter how much talent or natural ability a player has, success ultimately comes down to finding a technique that suits them personally. He made it clear that while skill is important, mastering a batting technique that feels right is crucial for long-term success.
“Hit it either off this leg, or off that leg. You know why I'm saying this, it's because every wicket has a pace. It's different everyday, today the humidity is more so there will be moisture, if it's less humid and more windy then the pitch is better to bat on. You won't get that knowledge until the match starts.”
Rohit went on to explain that what works for him might not necessarily work for someone like Samad. That’s why, he said, it’s so important for every player to carve out their own style instead of trying to copy someone else. Finding what suits you best is the key to growing as a batter.
“Tu mere jaisa nahin khel sakta, mein tere jaisa nahin khel sakta. Tera apna ek talent hai (You can't play like me, I can't play like you, you have your own talent,)" he added. "If I go to copy you or you try to copy me, or if I go to copy his technique or his technique, life will pass by in that time.”
