Australia won the second Test against New Zealand. They won by 3 wickets thanks to a great innings by Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey. India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin, who pulled off innings win against England in Dharamsala, had his eye on the clash between the two Tasman neighbours.

Ashwin played well in the recently concluded Dharamshala Test. He showed great skill with the ball and took 9 wickets in the match. Australia were under pressure in the run chase against the hosts on the fourth day of the match against New Zealand. Later, Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey put on a 140-run partnership. Marsh was trapped LBW by Ben Sears.

A full-length ball from Sears beat the batter Marsh on the leg side angle. In response to New Zealand's appeal, the umpire gave out, but Marsh took a review. Replays showed that the ball did not connect with the bat and it touched the leg stump. As a result, the decision of the umpire is proved correct.

Ashwin took a dig at England captain Ben Stokes on Twitter over Marsh's dismissal. Because he sparked the 'umpire's call' controversy during the Test series against India.

Ashwin tweeted, “An umpires call to push this test to a nail biting finish. Some support from England to Australia for.”

Stokes called on the Decision Review System (DRS) to overturn the umpire's call after he was confused by Zack Crawley's second-innings dismissal in the third Test against India in Rajkot last month.

"We've been on the wrong end of three umpire's calls this game and that is part of DRS. You're either on the right side or the wrong side. Unfortunately, we've been on the wrong side. I'm not saying and never will say that's the reason why we've lost this game, because 500 is a lot of runs,” Stokes said after the match.

"It is not something you pin down to result of the game. Sometimes when you are on the wrong end of those decisions it hurts but that is part of the game. You want them to go your way, sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.

"You just want a level playing field. The umpires have an incredibly hard job as it is, especially in India when the ball is spinning. My personal opinion is if the ball is hitting the stumps, it is hitting the stumps. They should take away 'umpire's call' if I'm being perfectly honest. I don't want to get too much into it because it sounds like we are moaning and saying that is why we lost the Test match."
