Karachi Kings have confirmed major changes in their coaching department before the 10th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as they have appointed Ravi Bopara as their new head coach.
Karachi Kings have made former English cricketer Ravi Bopara their head coach before the 10th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
The retired all-rounder will take the place of retired West Indian cricketer Phil Simmons, who was the head coach of the franchise in the last PSL season, in 2024.
Bopara, a name that is familiar to every Karachi Kings supporter, was a part of the franchise as a player between 2016 and 2019 and even led the side in 2016. He then joined the coaching department, holding the role of batting coach in 2023 and being an assistant coach in 2024 before becoming the head coach this season.
Mohammad Masroor has also been a prominent member of the Karachi Kings coaching team, having been fielding coach and assistant coach prior to this. His new role as a high-performance coach is an indication of the confidence that the team has in his skillset.
The management of Karachi Kings welcomed the new recruits and was looking forward to working with Bopara. They also appreciated the success of former head coach Phil Simmons and wished him all the best for the future.
The eagerly awaited 10th edition of the PSL begins on Friday, April 11. Defending champions Islamabad United will face two-time winners Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
The 2020 champions, however, will not begin their PSL 10 season until April 12 against Multan at their home ground, the National Bank Cricket Stadium.
