Rain has had its last laugh as the second day saw early stumps in Galle. Sri Lanka have lost further two wickets in the process before the stumps.

Sri Lanka didn’t have a solid way to start their innings on the second day. They lost Kamindu Mendis to Mitchell Starc as the left-arm quick strangled his down leg as Kamindu departed on 15.

Dhananjaya De Silva then got out abruptly after stepping up ahead from his popping crease as Matthew Kuhnemann bowled a dolly to him and Alex Carey stumped the Sri Lankan captain on 22 off 34 balls.

However, veteran batter Dinesh Chandimal looked very composed on the crease, scoring a solid fifty to his name as he's unbeaten on 63* off 115 balls, while wicketkeeper batter Kusal Mendis came in and made 10* off 25, adding 29-run stand with Chandimal.

Since then rain came in and it never stopped. And entirely the umpires had to call it stumps earlier on. Only 27 overs were bowled on day two.

Australia are on top, leading the hosts by 518 runs, and they'll be hoping to get Chandimal rid off as soon as possible in the tomorrow morning to open up the gates for the tailenders. While Sri Lanka will be hoping to Chandimal stand tall and reduce the deficit as much as possible.
