New Zealand top-order batsman Rachin Ravindra was declared the Player of the Tournament on Sunday owing to his consistency throughout the just-concluded ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025.
New Zealand's Rachin Ravindra was declared the Player of the Tournament of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as India beat the Blackcaps by four wickets in the final of the tournament on March 9 (Sunday) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
Ravindra, an expert in performing exceptionally well in ICC tournaments, scored two hundreds in the tournament and even claimed three wickets with the ball, including India captain Rohit Sharma's in the final.
Overall, the left-handed batsman accumulated 263 runs in four innings. And deservedly was declared Player of the Tournament even though he was on the losing side.
In Sunday's (March 9) Dubai International Cricket Stadium final against India in the Champions Trophy 2025, Ravindra Rachin scored 37 runs from 29 balls and then also caused Indian captain Rohit Sharma's retirement.
Following the reception of the award, Ravindra stated, "It's bittersweet (not winning the tournament, but the award)."
"We had a good game of cricket. It's not that we play on good wickets, but the effort I put in years ago as well. [I'm] very proud of my past. And I'm very thankful to all the people who supported me along the way," he said.
Speaking about his bowling, the 25-year-old mentioned, "I always love bowling. Santner always gives me some jokes because I don't bowl much into the nets. All members of the team have a role to play; we just do our job."
