New Zealand's Rachin Ravindra won the ICC Emerging Cricketer of the Year award for 2023 for his outstanding performance. Ravindra was in great form in 2023, especially in the ODI World Cup.

Ravindra won the award beating Sri Lanka's Dilshan Madushanka, South Africa's Gerald Coetzee, and India's Yashasvi Jaiswal. Rachin Ravindra was probably in the best form of his life in India's World Cup. He scored 578 runs in the World Cup by scoring 3 centuries.

2023's performance in T20s was so-so but in ODIs, it was excellent. Ravindra scored 820 runs at an average of 41 in ODIs, with a strike rate of 108.03. He took 18 wickets with the ball. That heroic performance at the World Cup certainly contributed to his award win.

Ravindra's 578 runs in the World Cup was the highest among New Zealand cricketers. And the fourth-highest in the entire World Cup.

In a statement after winning the award, Ravindra said, "It's obviously a very special feeling. Whenever you get recognised by the ICC for something it is always special. Reflecting back it has been a pretty whirlwind last year and having the opportunity to play so much cricket in so many different environments has been very special."
