Portugal’s national women's cricket team Joanna Child etched her name in cricket history by becoming the second oldest player to debut in a T20 International doing so at the age of 64. She achieved this rare feat during Portugal's three-match T20I series against Norway played at the Santarem Cricket Ground in Albergaria.

Joanna’s debut puts her behind only Gibraltar’s Sally Barton who remains the oldest T20I debutant at 66 years and 334 days. With this achievement Child surpassed the likes of Andrew Brownlee (62 years, 145 days) of the Falkland Islands and Mally Moore (62 years, 25 days) from the Cayman Islands.
While Joanna Child had a modest performance — scoring 2 runs and bowling four deliveries across the series her presence in the team was hailed as inspiring and groundbreaking.
Portugal went on to win the series 2-1 against Norway and Child's inclusion added a remarkable layer to an already memorable victory.
Portugal's squad was a beautiful mix of experience and youth. Alongside 64-year-old Child, the team also featured Ishreet Cheema (15), Mariam Waseem (16) and Afsheen Ahmed (16), Many lauded Joanna for proving that passion for the game knows no age limit.
