New Zealand Women's beat Sri Lanka Women's by 8 wickets on Saturday (October 12). A brilliant 53 off 44 deliveries from Georgia Plimmer, with Amelia Kerr's unbeaten 34* off 31 balls helped New Zealand women's chase down a modest 116 comfortably to tie with India on 4 points.

Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka lost their opener Vishmi Gunaratne at the very beginning of their innings to Eden Carson on 8 off 15 deliveries. Chamari Athapaththu then stitched partnership with Harshitha Madavi. The duo added 48 runs, although they took 60 balls to reach this far. After the departure of Madavi on 18 off 29 balls, Sri Lanka had a mild collapse at the middle order.

And then Chamari Athapaththu too got out to Amelia Kerr on 35 off 41 balls and Sri Lanka lost the plot and they managed to get only 115 runs despite getting a solid platform.

In reply, Suzie Bates and Georgia Plimmer started off to a decent start, adding 49 runs inside the 7 overs before Sachini Nisansala removed Suzie Bates on her 17 off 22 balls. However, it didn’t affect the Blackcaps from chasing down the total as Georgia Plimmer was on her mood today, smashing the Lankan bowlers ins and outs and stitching up a fantastic partnership with Amelia Kerr. She brought up a nice fifty and was removed by Chamari Athapaththu after scoring a brilliant 53 off 44 balls.

Amelia Kerr, however, scored a gritty 34* off 31 balls and New Zealand needed only 17.3 overs to chase down the total.
