Career
Gowtham's professional career began when he was selected for the Bangalore Under-15 zonal tournament, where he finished as the second highest wicket-taker. He played his first Ranji Trophy game for Karnataka in November 2012 against Bengal and conceded two wickets, both in the second innings.
In the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy season, Gowtham won back-to-back five-wicket draws against Delhi and Assam, helping his team win both games. In the latter game, he returned his career bests of 7/108.
Krishnappa Gowtham IPL In February 2017, Gowtham was bought by the Mumbai Indians team for the 2017 Indian Premier League for 2 crores. He made his List A debut for Karnataka at the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy on February 25, 2017.
In October 2017, Gowtham scored his first top-flight century while fighting for Karnataka against Assam at the 2017/18 Ranji Trophy.
In January 2018, Gowtham was purchased by the Rajasthan Royals at the 2018 IPL Auction. In October 2018 he was named to India B's squad for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy.
On 23 August 2019, in a Karnataka Premier League (KPL) game for Bellary Tuskers vs. Shivamogga Lions, Gowtham scored 134 runs from 56 deliveries and took 8 wickets for 15 runs. However, the games in the KPL do not have full Twenty20 status. In October 2019 he was named to India B's squad for the 2019–20 Deodhar Trophy.
In January 2021, Gowtham was named as one of five net bowlers in India's Test squad for his series against England.
