Mohammad Hafeez (Punjabi, born October 17, 1980) is a Pakistani cricketer. Hafeez is a versatile batsman who can hit anywhere in the top 6 and is part of the bowling attack. He was widely regarded as one of the best white ball all-rounders in the world as the ICC Player Rankings ranked him the best all-rounder on many occasions in the limited oversized formats. He is known for his intelligent hitting, but also playing aggressive hitting games when necessary. He retired from Test Cricket after the third and final game against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi in December 2018, leaving the ground in white for the last time to receive a guard of honor from his teammates.
Career
He became the fourth international player to play in the Caribbean Premier League and the first Pakistani player to be selected for the Twenty20 tournament. He is nicknamed "The Professor". The main teams he played for are Pakistan, Lahore, Lahore Lions, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Kolkata Knight Riders, Sargodha, Sui Gas Corporation of Pakistan.
Hafeez scored the best of 224 runs of his test career against Bangladesh in 2015 in Khulna during the Dan Cake Series. In August 2018 he was one of 33 players to receive a central contract for the 2018/19 season from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
In December 2018, during the Pakistani series against New Zealand, Hafeez announced that he would retire from test cricket after the tour was completed to focus on cricket with limited overs. Hafeez said the time has come to retire from test cricket and that he is honored to represent Pakistan in 55 test matches, including captaining the team.
