In the threshold of the fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League, the franchise authorities of PSL and the Pakistan Cricket Board have incurred into an issue of trust deficit subsequently when PCB revealed financial details of franchises into broad day light whether erroneously or not. The happening turned deliberate as franchises, who are competitive to one another, now have the excess to others’ pecuniary elements – expenses, losses, profits and gains, which is, however, a pensive breach of trust. One team owner, as quoted by ESPNCricinfo,

"We are competitors to each other on the business front, how can the PCB reveal this financial data, this is totally unfair. We cannot do anything at this stage, but we will be careful next time when it comes to trusting the PCB."

The saga began when PCB approached to franchise authorities, all five of them, to submit their financial accounts after they noted about the failure of reaching into the breakeven point even after PSL have already reached into its fourth year. The PCB merged the account details into a document and sent federal and provincial governments for tax exemptions. But fury began, when PCB Chief Operation Officer Subhan Ahmed forwarded the compiled documents to all the franchises revealing every one of them to their counterparts. "It is ethically wrong and the confidence of the franchises is shaken. The PCB wanted to see whether we are in losses or not. They could have blurred the teams' names and forwarded the e-mail. The idea behind providing them the information was to curate a workable financial model in which there's a win-win situation for both parties," he also said.
