Former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop felt Rishabh Pant deserved to be included in India's T20 World Cup squad.

Pant's incredible recovery tale has just continued, with an India call-up barely a month after returning to cricket play in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 as Delhi Capitals’ (DC) captain. Since his comeback, the DC skipper has 398 runs in 11 matches, including three match-winning half-centuries.

Bishop explained on a Star Sports program how Pant's performance had rendered him unmissable in the eyes of the BCCI selection committee as they made preparations for the World Cup.

"He (Pant) is in the World Cup squad by right, based on what he has done before the injury and what he has done in this IPL in front of the stumps and behind too. His power, his innovation, his tempo and style will be a very good compliment to all of those guys in front of him and behind him. It is great for Rishabh, whose career could've ended in that accident, and great for world fans who have a lot of love for him," Bishop said.
