Pakistan team had to face various problems including the suspension of training facilities in New Zealand. New Zealand even threatened to send the visiting team home, alleging that Pakistani players were not following the rules.
As a result, the situation became complicated. Pakistan, who are going to play a series of three T20Is and two Tests, are also seriously considering returning to the country before the start of the main tour. However, in the end, the visiting team backed away from that decision.
"You try and analyse things and think realistically about every possible angle. You think about how many days we need to prepare, how we are going to prepare, how to lift your team. Obviously these aren't normal circumstances; what happens here isn't ideal.
“But then for the sake of international cricket you want cricket to go on, and being a big stakeholder, we will give our full effort to help cricket overall. We did discuss [about pulling out of the tour] but then finally decided to say no to this option because when you invest this much time on this, then you have got to give it a shot,” Pakistan head coach Misbah-ul-Haq said.
Pakistan are now in Queenstown after a 14-day quarantine in Christchurch. The T20I series against New Zealand will start from December 18 here.
