New Zealand have thrashed India by 8 wickets in the first Test match on Sunday (October 20) in Bengaluru. Matt Henry and William ORourke's exceptional bowling halted India's innings to a horrible collapse, despite Sarfaraz and Pant's sensational partnership. In reply of India's measly 107, Rachin Ravindra and Will Young stitched crucial partnership to steer New Zealand home.
This is New Zealand's first Test victory in India in last 36 years.
After India's first innings horrible show as they were bundled out for a paltry 46 runs. But they fought back incredibly in the second innings as they swallowed New Zealand's lead of 346 runs on the back of Sarfaraz Khan's majestic 150 and Rishab Pant's outstanding 99 but William ORourke came with his magical hands to trigger the collapse and India managed to get just 106 runs lead.
In reply of 107, New Zealand started shakily as they lost Tom Latham earlier on. And then Devon Conway too departed soon after. But that didn't cause any hamper as Rachin Ravindra and Will Young stitched another sensational 75-run stand together to steer New Zealand home. Rachin was unbeaten on 39*, while Young made a brilliant 48* off 76 balls.
Rachin Ravindra was adjusted as the player of the match for his outstanding first innings 134 and second innings crucial 39*.
The second Test commences from Thursday, October 24 in Pune.
