Former Indian fast bowler Munaf Patel has been named as the new bowling coach of Delhi Capitals. The franchise announced this news on Tuesday. 

Munaf Patel Munaf Patel represented India for 86 international matches and also is a World Cup winner. He was the part of India's 2011 ICC Men's World Cup squad. 

Apart from his international career, which lasted in between 2006 and 2011, Munaf also played for some IPL franchise as well, Rajasthan Royals (2008-2010), Mumbai Indians (2011-2013) and Gujarat Lions (2017). He won the 2013 IPL season with Mumbai Indians. He took his retirement from competitive Cricket back in 2018 and this is first high-prolific coaching assignment.

Munaf Patel has replaced former Australian all-rounder James Hopes in the role. DC didn’t prolong contracts with former DC head coach Ricky Ponting and bowling coach James Hopes. DC wanted to have an Indian predominant coaching panel in focus of pre-IPL preparation.

Despite a massive changes in their coaching department, they've sticked to some of their core players. Before the mega auction, DC have retained spin-bowling allrounder Axar Patel, wristspinner Kuldeep Yadav, South African batter Tristan Stubbs and uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel.
