The former Windies captain, Carl Hooper has expressed his opinion that MS Dhoni would play until the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 in England.

Indian former captain and present wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni is the trending top in the cricketing fraternity. On Friday night BCCI announced the squad for the T20I series against Windies and Australia. But MS Dhoni didn't find his name on the list which has put everyone in a surprise. Even though the selectors gave a convincing statement to the fans that this is not the end of the T20I career of the former captain. But it seems like an end for him in the shortest format considering his recent form with the bat. With many people expressing their views on the former Indian captain, Carl Hooper, the former Windies captain has said that MS Dhoni will certainly play the World Cup in 2019.

“I don’t know about him in T20s, but certainly in World Cup, he will be selected. He has played more than 300 ODIs for India, his experience will be valuable. I have seen Virat actually consult him on a number of occasions. I actually see him being selected for 50 overs format.”

Further, the former Windies player believes that the selection committee might speak with the wicket-keeper regarding the selection dilemmas. Furthermore, the ex-Windies captain said to let go of someone who had shouldered the burden of captaincy and expectations would be disappointing. “I am sure the selectors would speak to Dhoni and would indicate which direction they wanted to go in. He has served India well for a long time and is a former captain, so he deserves this much. Dhoni will be disappointed to have been dropped (from the T20s) but I am sure that the team has communicated with him well (about the road ahead). He still has the World Cup to look forward to,” he added. Hooper has further stressed that Dhoni should be given the full freedom to make a call on his career. “You have to stop somewhere. But stopping is not the issue. The issue is you stop on your terms and (to ensure) that the selectors have communicated."
