New Zealand have thumped Pakistan by 84 runs to clinch the ODI series with one game to spare on Wednesday (April 2) in Hamilton. An astonishing 99* from Mitch Hay helped the Blackcaps to 292 runs. In reply, Ben Sears picked up a superb fifer, and Jacob Duffy had three wickets as the Kiwis clinched a massive 84-run victory.

Being inserted to bat first, Rhys Mariu fell cheaply to Wasim Junior. Nick Kelly got a brisk start but couldn’t long his innings as he departed after scoring 31 off 23 balls. Wickets kept tumbling in the middle order as the Blackcaps soon fell to 132-5 from 71-2.

Muhammad Abbas and Mitch Hay then stitched a superb 77-run stand together to rebuild the things before the departure of the former one after his 41 off 66 balls. Mitch Hay stood tall and he single handedly demolished the Pakistan bowling lineup, smashing here and there to score an excellent 99* off just 78 balls to help his side get to 292 on the board.
In response, New Zealand were sensational with the new ball as the Pakistan top three nicked off, with Jacob Duffy getting a couple of wickets to his name. William O'Rourke was lethal with his body line bowling, as Rizwan copped a few blows to his elbow and his arm in his short stint on the pitch.

O'Rourke and Duffy kept things tight, and then Ben Sears reaped the rewards as he dismissed Salman Agha and Mohammad Rizwan in his first over. Faheem Ashraf provided some fight for the visitors, as he waged on with a gritty half century but Sears was too good as he returned with a superb fifer to bundle Pakistan out for 208 runs.
