Chasing 157, Pakistan needed 13 runs in the final over with only one wicket in hand. However, Misbah who kept Pakistan's hope alive till the last over was on the strike. Indian pacer Joginder Sharma started off the over with a wide. But a dot in the next delivery put the pressure on the Pakistan side again.
Meanwhile, Misbah made a strong comeback with a big six in the very next ball which left the Indian spectators speechless. However, Misbah miserably failed to secure 6 runs off 4 balls for his side. Off the third ball, Misbah went for a cheeky scoop, which did not time well and the ball landed down Sreesanth’s hand.
Recalling that match, Former Pakistan allrounder Mahmood feels that Misbah should not have played that shot and instead he could have gone for a straight shot.
"Unfortunately, Pakistan was on the losing side. Misbah Ul Haq was playing so well but in the end, he tried to play that scoop shot. He could have hit a straight six off Joginder Sharma but he tried to go with a fancy scoop. I jumped on my sofa, when I saw, but then when the catch was taken, I was like 'what's happening', Mahmood said on Wisden's The Greatest Rivalry podcast.
