South Africa cruised to a commanding seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the first Test match, thanks to their superior batting and bowling. After the game, Proteas captain Aiden Markram credited their Indian Premier League (IPL) experience for helping his team adapt to the challenging subcontinental conditions. Many South African players, including Markram, have featured in the IPL, which takes place on similar pitches to those in Bangladesh.

In the post-match press conference, Markram said, "It definitely has helped, yes. I think it's because you have to be exposed to the conditions for a long period of time to be able to learn. As we know, IPL is quite a long tournament. You're there for a good two months. I've been fortunate enough to do it for three years now, and that's six months, quarter of batting in those conditions. So that's helped me grow. I think I think in South Africa, you try your best to become a good player of swim, but conditions don't always allow for that. So to be exposed to the conditions is where we're able to learn you most. And to be exposed to those conditions through IPL has helped a lot.”

South Africa now lead the two-match Test series 1-0 after wrapping up the first match in just four days. The second and final Test is scheduled to begin on October 29 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. If South Africa wins the next match, they will secure a 2-0 series whitewash against Bangladesh.
