Delhi Capitals thrashed Royal Challengers Banguluru by 6 wickets on Thursday (April 10). Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam together combined a superb spell, restricting RCB to a below par total of 163 runs. In reply, KL Rahul smashed 93* to steady his side home comfortably.
Being inserted to bat first, RCB had a flying start as the openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli added 61 runs inside just 3.5 overs before the departure of Salt after his quick-fire cameo of 37 off 17 balls. Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal and Liam Livingstone then fell in the quick succession as RCB fell into deep trouble, as they were stuttering on 91-4.
At the tad backend of the innings Tim David smashed a superb knock of 37* off just 20 deliveries, helping his side to a competitive total of 163 runs on the board.
Vipraj Nigam and Kuldeep Yadav were the pick of the bowlers as the duo picked up four wickets together with lower economy rate.
In response, Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave RCB a stunning start, removing Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel cheaply, while Yash Dayal removed Faf du Plessis as DC were crumbling on 30-3.
Wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul came in and stitched a crucial partnership with skipper Axar Patel as the duo added 28 runs together before the fall of Axar.
However, KL Rahul stood tall and steadied the shop for the DC, along with Tristan Stubbs. The duo added a massive 111* off just 55 balls, helping their side clinch a massive 6 wickets victory. KL Rahul was the architect behind the victory, scoring a swashbuckling 93* off just 53 balls.
