Rangpur Riders have beaten Dhaka Capitals by 40 runs to open up their BPL 2025 campaign. Khushdil Shah's whirlwind 46* off 23 balls and skipper Nurul Hasan Sohan's 25 off 11 balls helped Rangpur Riders get to 191 on the board. In reply, Mahedi Hasan's staggering spell got Riders going and hand 40 runs win.
Being asked to bat first, Steven Taylor fell cheaply to Mustafizur Rahman after quick start. Alex Hales was knocked over to Alauddin Babu as Dhaka Capitals had a terrific start. But Saif Hasan and Ifthikar Ahmed held on the innings together as the duo added 89 runs and helped Rangpur Riders get going. Alauddin Babu brought Dhaka Capitals back into the game as he removed both the settled batters.
But at the backend of the innings, Khushdil Shah clobbered 46* off just 23 deliveries and Nurul Hasan Sohan played a quick-fire cameo of 25 from 11 balls to help their side get a competitive 191 on the board.
In reply, Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Litton Das did have a scratchy start. But both of them were sent back to the pavilion with some rippers from Mahedi Hasan. Habibur Rahman Sohan too fell to him as Mahedi rattled through the top order of Dhaka Capitals.
No-one from Dhaka Capitals did have starts except from their openers who held on there 7 overs adding 65 runs, since then wickets were tumbling at regular intervals as Dhaka Capitals were all-out for just 143 runs.
