Royal Challengers Bengaluru pacer Josh Hazlewood didn’t hold back after RCB suffered their third straight home defeat in IPL 2025, this time against Punjab Kings at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The Australian speedster pulled no punches, pointing out his team’s sluggish adaptation to an unusually unpredictable Bengaluru pitch.
“Yeah, I think it's not a typical Chinnaswamy wicket. Obviously, the bounce has always been there, but in past years, it's probably been more consistent. Yeah, it's obviously three (defeats) in a row now at home. It's just we've probably been a bit slow on the learnings from the first two games and didn't put that into practice as well as we could have, probably in those first probably six to eight overs, obviously, with the score the way it was.”
“But we'll dive into this game and, you know, probably more so when we get back to Bangalore and really go through it in detail and with a fine-tooth comb and come up with a few ideas of where we can learn and improve.”
RCB’s bowling has come under the scanner this season but Hazlewood did acknowledge some improvement.
“I think the bowling definitely improved from the last two outings. So, we’re slowly getting there — but probably not quickly enough,” he noted.
He also pointed out the need for batting stability, especially from the top order “If we can have our top five or six bat through the 20 overs, it’ll go a long way in helping us win matches.”
RCB won’t have much time to reflect as they gear up to face Punjab Kings again this time in Chandigarh on April 20.
