Jonathan Trott named as Pretoria Capitals head coach
Trott is the head coach of Afghanistan at the moment. The former England batter began playing in this capacity in 2022, and at the beginning of this year, his contract was extended. There is no word on whether he will extend his contract once more before it expires in December. His international obligations and his new post won't conflict because the next SA20 is scheduled for January 2025.

The SA20 league's Pretoria Capitals have announced Jonathan Trott as their new head coach. The team only let go of Graham Ford, their first coach, four days before this statement.

The JSW Group, who also owns Delhi Capitals of the Indian Premier League (IPL), is the owner of Pretoria Capitals. Earlier this month, DC fired head coach Ricky Ponting, and they haven't yet named a replacement. Perhaps in the future, Trott could run for that position, so it's not impossible.
The team's performance at international competitions has significantly improved throughout Trott's tenure in Afghanistan. They had only triumphed in one ICC competition, an ICC 50-over and T20, despite their skill in the shorter formats. However, in the past nine months, they had defeated Australia, England, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and Bangladesh in the 2023 ODI and 2024 T20I World Cups. In the latter, they advanced to the semifinals before falling to South Africa.
