West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales has disclosed how the revelry that ensued after Mikyle Louis's direct hit to remove Shoaib Bashir stopped a guard of honor for the great James Anderson during his last farewell Test match.

When a top opposition cricket player is on the field for the final time in a Test match, it has been customary for the fielding side to provide a guard of honour. And that was the West Indies' plan on Thursday before Anderson, No. 11, left the field to a standing ovation from the full house at Lord's.

After a spectacular run-out by Mikyle Louis, who dismissed Shoaib Bashir with a direct hit, Anderson entered the field with joyful cheers from the West Indies team. As Bashir attempted to go for the second run, he was out of his crease. The West Indies squad went wild at the amazing fielding move, as James Anderson reached the middle to a thunderous ovation from the Lord's crowd. The West Indies players participated, but rather than forming the intended guard of honor, they were dispersed over the field.

“We spoke about it before he came out to bat, that we were going to give him a guard of honour. Obviously the run out took us all the way down to Swiss Cottage (the neighbouring district in northwest London to St John’s Wood, in which Lord’s is located), so it was pretty hard to do the guard of honour for the great man. Luckily, Jason [Holder] caught up with him,” Seales said.
