The 2024-25 Dhaka Premier League (DPL) has been a chance for Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan Sohan to show how consistent and strong he is as a leader.  The experienced player has not only been the main batter for Dhanmondi Sports Club, but he has also scored a number of game-winning runs. 

Sohan is currently the second-highest run-scorer in the ongoing DPL. He has scored 386 runs in 7 games, including two hundred and a fifty.  His skill to win games was clear when he hit 132, which was the best score of his career and helped his team score 277 runs.  Earlier in the event, he also scored an important 58 to help Dhanmondi win their first game.

The wicketkeeper-batter spot on the Bangladesh ODI team is currently open after Mushfiqur Rahim retired from ODIs. His efforts have brought up the idea of him possibly returning.

Sohan has only played 7 ODIs in the 7 years since his first game in 2016.  Given his ability to perform well under pressure, it's a mystery why he hasn't had more chances to play cricket for his country.

He has only played five times in ODIs, but he has scored 165 runs at an amazing average of 82.50.  He led Bangladesh to wins in all three of their most recent one-day internationals (against Zimbabwe and the West Indies).

He didn't get to play in his last ODI, which was in September 2023 against New Zealand.  But in the few chances he had before, Sohan showed he could finish games and play important innings.

Speaking about his national team ambitions, Sohan remains hopeful, "Playing for Bangladesh is always a matter of pride. I always try to give my best. If I get the opportunity again, I want to pick up from where I left off and contribute to the team’s success."
