Now we have a bat gauge, similar to the ball gauge, to ensure fairness.” The newly introduced triangular plastic gauge has specifications for a bat’s depth, width, edges, and curve, ensuring no bat exceeds its dimensional limits. Openers’ bats are now checked before they take the field, and all subsequent batters must clear the gauge wielded by umpires.

In the heart of Mumbai, Varun Aggarwal, owner of Ashoka Sports, weighed in on the discussion. "Thicker bats have more impact on the ball," he explained, emphasizing their ability to make the ball travel further. However, when asked why manufacturers don’t make bats of standard size, Varun pointed out customer preferences. “Players have varied requirements for width, length, height, and thickness during local matches or practice sessions. But when it comes to ICC tournaments and international matches, bats must meet strict regulations."

Meanwhile, a separate rumor involving Riyan Parag stirred conversations online. Reports claimed his bat didn’t pass the gauge test, leading to a heated exchange with on-field umpires. Parag’s father, Parag Das, quickly dismissed these claims, clarifying, “Riyan merely pointed out that the umpire’s gauge was slightly tilted. Once it was adjusted correctly, his bat cleared the test. He played with the same bat and didn’t have to return to the dressing room to switch.”
